taking restricted firearm to the range without papers

Hello all, I have done some research and it seems very confusing on whether I can take my firearm to the range before I receive registration in the mail. I have my dad coming into town and I would really like to take him to use my new cz. He won't be back till the new year.

As far as I understand, even if I get pulled over, I can show them the email that I got to transfer it. If they refuse that, then they can seize it, then I just need to bring physical registration within 14 days to retrieve it.

Are there any other more serious consequences? And is it illegal for me to do?

Any help is much appreciated!
