Just checked again but my RPAL is still sitting as processed but not approved about 4 months after they received it. RIP

Well, you will still be able to buy restricted non-handgun firearms, and you will be permitted to borrow handguns from a friend or family member or whoever trusts you.

The borrowing is no longer allowed either. The official word is that "transfer" includes selling, trading, lending, etc.

I'd be very surprised to hear that people are still allowed to borrow firearms in which they're no longer allowed to buy.

Why? There is a specific section in the firearms act addressing borrowing.

Sure, but just because you have a license (let's say PAL for example) does not give you the means to legally borrow a restricted firearm.

This feels very similar, as I can't see the government saying "You aren't allowed to buy/sell/transfer a specific type of firearm, but you're willy-nilly allowed to lend that same firearm to friends who are not (as of the freeze) legally allowed to transfer the firearm into their name.

I guess we'll see! I'll be baffled.

Further to my point, Ian Runkel (YouTube Runkel of the Bailey) stated his opinion is that borrowing rules are unchanged. I have not seen any evidence otherwise.
