Weekly Newbies & FAQ Thread - Post your questions here for PAL/RPAL application, timelines, CFSC/CFSRC, references & requirements, or general new to firearms ownership -type questions

This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.

In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

How are CFSC courses seemingly always booked up? Not complaining if more people are getting into shooting of course but it seems weird considering that gun ownership seems to be an 'unpopular' thing in Canada yet these courses are always full for a good month in advance.

Probably because of the relatively small amount of instructors to meet the existing demand, and the need to keep class sizes small. It took me 6 months from when I started looking to actually take the course (although it was partly due to COVID restrictions) I’d say just find something that isn’t overpriced, ideally the PAL/RPAL over a weekend, and get your spot as soon as you can
