Having just gotten my RPAL, I've ordered a used surplus Beretta 92S for which transfer has been initiated (Ontario).

If this might very well be our last ever chance to buy handguns, I'm considering buying a second handgun just in case the Beretta turns out to be a dud of some sort. This might be a dumb and ignorant fear..

Question 1) Is that even remotely likely?

I also read that the sights are bad in Beretta 92S.

So I'm considering buying a new Norinco NP17 or NP22.

Question 2) Would you say these Norinco clones will be inferior in every way to the Beretta or is there any weight in getting them as a backup?

Thank you for reading this. I'll appreciate your comments even if they don't answer my questions. :-) Guns are fun to even just talk about! :-)

CZ 75 Shadow 1 and TS2 are still available so I would DEFINITELY jump on those!

Ah yes. Thanks for pointing me towards them. The Beretta and NP22 not being considered IPSC standard was a little bit upsetting. I expected all competitive class guns to have been sold out by now. Still shelling out a 100% markup is a bitter pill to swallow. But I guess that's why they have survived the market so far and remain an option till today. :-)

Exactly and im happy I could help :) Its worth having a shadow 1 for sure and ALSO there is a website with Shadow 2 Orange available for sale but the markup is crazy but if you really want one its out there. I just wanted to throw that out there since it’s one of my favourite handguns
