A few questions for a first time restricted owner.

Got my transfer and firearm, got my new card, and got that other paperwork.

Just a little confused about what I need to do with the slip attached to the new card and other paperwork.

Do I need to have the conditions slip and other paper with me anytime Im going to the range?

Can I photocopy everything on to one page and keep that with my firearm?

Is keeping the paperwork in my case a bad idea?

It’s technically not illegal not to have your licence and registration certificate with you. If you can’t produce them if demanded to do so by a police officer, they can seize your firearms. You then have 14 days to produce your licence and certificate and your firearms will be returned to you. I carry my licence with me and keep copies of the licence conditions and registration certificates in my gun case. A police officer would have to be an absolute prick to seize your guns if you produced an original licence and copies of the documents, but all it would mean is you would have to deal with the inconvenience of going to the detachment with your original documents to collect your guns.

I bet most police don't even know what a registration certificate is. As long as you have your PAL card, I would bet you would be totally fine. But yes, I do just like you do. Copy in the locked gun case.

P. S. if ever asked by a police, I'm not opening the locked case, and I'm not consenting to a search.

100%. As diligent as we are about following the rules, we can make small mistakes with serious consequences. Assume that you’ve screwed something up in properly securing your gun for transport and don’t make it easy for your mistake to be discovered.
