Weekly Newbies & FAQ Thread - Post your questions here for PAL/RPAL application, timelines, CFSC/CFSRC, references & requirements, or general new to firearms ownership -type questions

This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.

In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

So, still waiting on my card but my license is approved. Any chance in hell, I can still get my hands on a pistol?

Did you previously have a PAL? If so, your RPAL number is the same, they just increase the number after the decimal by one. Use this number to buy online. Do it ASAP (right now) because the freeze may come into effect any time.

As others said, if this is your first licence, call the CFP or your CFO's Office (it may take a lot of trying to get through) and ask foe your PAL number "so you can buy a range membership". Do you nt tell them it is so you can buy a gun, they don't really like that.
