This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.

In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

Ontario RPAL for me. Sent in July 17th. Received approval and got my license number by phone yesterday October 11th. Went ahead and purchased a p226. Seems to be about a 3-4 month wait on transfers.

The estimate right now for Ontario is April, 6½ months for handgun transfers.

Ah okay, just going off of the estimate provided by a gun shop in Oshawa ON. Can’t confirm how accurate as this is my first firearm purchase.

Odd, I've emailed Firearm Outlet Canada and they told me that back in early September that they were starting to receive June 3 approvals.

the first week of June saw a phenomenal increase in handgun sales, it will get much worse before it gets better
