I got my RPAL recently. Is there still anyway I could buy a handgun in time?

I'd really appreciate if you could share some leads on sellers. Thanks in advance.

Maybe. Buy it now! As long as the shop puts in the transfer request right away, you will probably be ok.

Oh I have! Thank you.

But from a store that doesn't garner much confidence here or CGN.. I hope they are legit..

Ask them for the transfer reference number. If they have a transfer reference number, then you should be good.

Thanks again! I wouldn't have otherwise known to ask for this. I'm so grateful for this community. :-)

Most reputable gun shops have the ability to start transfers online, except for consignment sales i think they might still need to call in as it is technically private to private sale.

They can typically have transfer entered within 1 business day, so I would suggest buying online if you only have your PAL number.

So far everything indicates that once a transfer is started, they should honor it.

Thank you! I have the card too but online still seems like the only option.

One more question.. Do I need to become a member of a gun range/club before I buy online?

No. Ontario doesn't require it. If you're really worried about it, just write 'looking' in the box.

I would check into regulations based on your province.

Where I'm from you need to pass a special course before you can even become range member. Good luck!

Go online and look at what models are available and buy one. The general consensus is if you made the purchase before the freeze goes into effect, your transfer should be honoured.

I don't think you have to in Ontario, but you do in other provinces.
