What is "the firearm" on a Glock 48? I see a serial number on the plastic lower frame. But I'm surprised to see a serial number on the barrel too?

Why do manufacturers put serial numbers all over?

When the gun is fitted and tested parts can't be accidentally interchanged at the factory.

Expensive guns are hand fitted and finished.

ISO 9001 maybe.
