I'm applying for a PAL & RPAL license for the first time. I sent in my application about a month ago. When I go on the website to check my application status, it says they don't have any information that matches the data.

I called last week and got through to someone who said to just wait until they charge my credit card and then call back a week after that. I just want to know that they've received my application, but he wasn't able to give me any information about that.

Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong when signing in to check the status? When it asks for my first name, last name, and place of birth, I'm capitalizing the first letter and the rest lower case. Is this stuff case sensitive? I've tried a few different combinations and have not had any luck.

There is no chance that a letter addressed to the RCMP was "lost" by Canada Post workers.

Ya, fair enough. I've just been reading posts from people who said that their application was received a week after they mailed it... and it's been almost a month now and there's no way for me to see that it's actually been received and that the process has started.

People who know that their application was received have used certified mail that will alert them of delivery. It will take 2-3 months before your CC is charged and your application is available online. If you've used regular mail it is just a waiting game until then.

Gotcha, that makes sense. Thanks for the clarification. I didn't use certified mail. Maybe I should have. I guess I'll just keep an eye on my credit card and hope it gets charged in another month or two.

The norms currently are 3 months before it'll show up in the portal, another 3 months from there prior to approval.

By law 28 days minimum, add a week for can't post and a couple of days to process payment. We have all been there.
