This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.

In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

I'm not certain, but I think the numbers are called when you make your first purchase.

I read this on another post, and also I screwed up a ref number on my application. They sent a letter telling me to correct it, I did, and it was taking a crazy long time to update my application so I started calling. When I finally got through the very cool officer just fixed the number in my application and it immediately approved. Obviously they couldn't have called him that fast, so it makes me believe they don't actually call the refs to approve the actual license. And yes, that seems odd.
