It varies a bit by province and they are constantly changing the rules, but in a nutshell a store can ship a gun as soon as the transfer is approved. If you are picking it up you need the ownership paper.

Nope. You can pick it up as soon as the transfer is approved. You just can't take it anywhere until you get the registration. Just did this a couple week ago.

This was also verified to me over the phone by someone at the CFO office a week before I picked mine up.

My CFO told me I need to await the papers before picking up a pistol last year. YMMV

Can I ask them to hold it until registration comes in? I won’t be/ don’t want the guns in the house. Will be storing at the range.

They will hold it. Your range has storage? Mine definitely do not.

Yea mine offers long term storage so they will just go directly there. But started to get concerned with the lag between the reg and when the transfer is approved. The range can’t take my stuff until the reg is in hand. Silly they even do it this way- it should be the paperwork is done at the same time of the approval and a temp is emailed off, with a hard copy that comes in the mail later.
