This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.
In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

Since you’ll likely need to call multiple times before getting through, a little tip I found helpful is that you can save the restricted transfers number as a contact, and then program the extension in to be dialed automatically.
On an iPhone for example * Open the contact app * Tap + * Enter a valid name like “CFP Transfers” * Tap “add phone” * Type 1-800-731-4000 * Tap “+*#” in the bottom left of the keypad * Tap “pause” * Type “142” * Tap “Done” in the top right
Now when you dial this contact you only need to tap once instead of dialing, switching to the keypad and entering the extension numbers. This saves 4 button presses each time which really adds up and gets tedious if you’re calling 100+ times.
