Are the phone agents even the same people who are working through the queue of transfers? Like are you actually slowing down the backlog of transfer by talking to one?

Also I haven’t had any issues contacting the Alberta’s CFO office. I’ve called twice in the last month (once at 9AM and once at 1:30PM) and both times I got through after being on hold for 20 minutes.

Haven’t experienced any of these 3 hour holds or dropped calls. I also know of two other people who have contacted the Alberta CFO and their experience was in line with mine.

If the nature of your call is to ask how much longer your already pending transfer will take, then yes you are absolutely holding up the line.

If your seller hasn't emailed you a transfer number, call them and ensure they've initiated the transfer, don't call the CFO.

There is a clause in the bill that ensures all pending transfers will be put through after the legislation passes.

Free up the lines so that individuals can make private sales, as we don't have any online portal or priority access like businesses do. There are also other legitimate reasons to need to speak with a CFO.

No sorry that's not what I meant by that.

I meant that it frees up the phone lines for other people to initiate private sale transfers, or other inquiries.

The gist of what I'm getting at is although I understand how antsy everyone is to get their firearms right now, the right thing to do is to wait patiently if your transfer is already submitted, because it will inevitably go through. This will help private sellers who are unable to get through to anyone to initiate their transfers, among other people who have other inquiries.

I've had a slurry of automatic hangups due to call volumes, and today I've made it to a hold queue TWO TIMES for about 15-20 minutes each before I'm abruptly hung up on without explanation. Frustrating as hell.
