Final RPAL application update.

ON, approved with personal history box checked.

Mailed: March 13th 2022 (regular mail)

Received: March 18th 2022

cc charged/initial review completed: June 15th 2022

Transfer to ON-CFO: July 5th 2022

Approved and Issued: August 8th 2022!

Start to finish was 4.5 months.

I answered Yes to one of the personal history questions (depression) and included a BRIEF letter explaining why I checked the box and which aspects didn’t apply to me (e.g. have depression, no substance use disorder, etc…). I also included a note from my doctor where they specified that they were comfortable with me getting PAL and said I was stable.

When I spoke to the CFO, they were very happy that I had preemptively included all of that information.

Called ON-CFO and they gave me my license # and now I’ve already got a handgun in the transfer queue!

For other’s benefit:

Canadian Firearms Program (RCMP) - for application updates:

1 (800) 731-4000,1,,,,,,,5,2

Ontario CFO: 1 (800) 731-4000,1,,,,,,1,7503

You won’t be able to see your info in the portal until after they charge your card. It’s taken 3 months pretty consistently to get to that point. Good luck!

Keep calling. Over and over. Make a phone contact with the number I indicated above so you just have to click it once. Keep doing it until you get put on hold - it will be an entirely different voice doing the message so if the same voice comes on to tell you they can’t take the call hang up and try again.

Both times that I got through was around 1pm EST but that could just be coincidence.
