So I got my first ever gun. SIG Sauer P320 M17 which I just posted here and I remember from the RPAL courses that you need to get a trigger lock but a gun safe is not mandatory. Is getting a gun safe highly recommended? I think an additional lock for the case is enough. I just don't have enough space to keep a safe in my house.

Just a bit if gun care advice, since others have answered the storage question already.

If you keep a firearm in a hard case for storage you may want to invest $10 in a gun sock. The foam of the case will absorb oils and hold moisture which may discolor bits of the coating that the foam points touch.

It doesn't mention that the safe has to be a specific size. If its marketed as a safe its a safe. Essentially made of metal with a built in lock.

You can get a small unit like this one that's smaller than a laptop case, and can be accessed with a fingerprint scanner. This is how I've been storing my Glock.
