I just bought my first restricted, a g17 from armseast.ca. Is there anything on my end that I need to do? I live in BC.

Neither if you will need to do anything. Once you get a transfer notice via email you can either pick up your gun or it will be shipped to you. Make sure to forward a copy of the transfer notice to the business as they haven’t been getting them all.

Since it’s your first you will get a new RPAL in the mail in 2-3 weeks hopefully immediately followed or preceded by your guns registration. Once you get that you can take it to a range.

B.C. Will have to provide range details, Alberta won’t. It’s a provincial thing. Ontario and Alberta don’t require active range memberships.

Thanks for the info! Much appreciated!! I’m a member at my local range so there shouldn’t be any problems once they ask me to provide range details. Will it be the CFO or the the business do you reckon?

If anyone will ask it will be the cfo but they didn’t ask me, just put down my range name, didn’t even add my member number.

For Alberta, you'll need to call the CFO's office and let them know that you plan to shoot on a drop in basis, and tell them what range you are planning to shoot at. You don't need an actual membership anymore.

If you get an actual membership at an approved range, should you still call the CFO and tell them? Or it’s automatic

You need to inform the CFO's office. The easiest way to do that is by sending an email to cfpcfounit@rcmp-grc.gc.ca with a photo of your range membership beside your PAL card.

I’m a member at my local range so I put it down. I placed the order on Saturday so I’ll update if they ask for proof

I did too yesterday since its the first time they are back in stock. First time buyer in that gun shop too but I already bought from other online store. Likely they will ask for the scan of your range membership card if your province CFO require it (I do in Qc). After that they will sent you the refence number and you will have to wait till your province CFO process the transfert.

Right on! So other then possibly having to send proof of my range membership it’s just a hurry up and wait type of deal.
