Hello Reddit, I received my RPAL this year and purchased the typical non restricted firearms combo of SKS, .22 LR, 12 Gauge, and a .308 rifle.

I never had interest in hand guns but got my RPAL just in-case, and now with law changes on the horizon I don't want to miss out on owning a hand gun.

Only problem is I know almost nothing about handguns or where to get them (my closest Cabelas in Barrie doesn't seem to have any in stock).

I've been told the CZ Shadow are good, but I can't find any in stock and have no idea the price range.

What would you suggest, and where should I look? I'm interested in just a basic firearm that is good value for money, much like the other firearms I've purchased which everyone else seems to as well.

It is common practice to order from legitimate Canadian online stores (even out of province).

CZ makes excellent firearms. Definitely highly recommended amongst many. I would stick to either a Shadow 2 or TS2. You are looking at roughly 1,600-1,700$ for their standard editions and 2,800-3,000$ for the higher end editions.

Shadow is great but expensive. If you pick up a Sig P320, with it modularity, you could upgrade it to the X5 Legion someday with a Completion Kit or you can change calibre between 9mm, .357 Sig, .40 cal, or even .45 ACP if you change the slide release on the FCU (fire control unit). Sig P320 have FCUs with the serial number. So the FCU can change out into different grips and uppers to become "different" guns with the same serial number. I picked one up myself because of the freeze due to this.

Is the P226 also modular with regard to calibre? Looking to pick one up hopefully soon

I know you can get a 22LR conversion kit for the P226. Not sure about other calibres

CZ or IWI. Girsan is fine, but I'm not confident in their long-term survival.
