Hii guys i live in QC i did a transfer may 25 for my first restricted gun. Which was pre announcement. I still have no news. My friend told me they call references for my first restricted, i asked my references and no one has contacted them yet. What can i do? who can i call to see what is going on or is this normal? Thx

Took 2 months for my first restricted. They’ll call both your references and they’ll call you too. They’ll ask your references questions along the line of « is this person violent » « do you have any reason to believe this person shouldn’t own a firearm » « how long have you known this person » that’s about it. They’ll ask you how long you’ve known your references, if you had any major events in the last 2 years (job change/loss, breakup and such), they’ll ask you why you want a restricted firearm and that’s about it.

Once they start calling your references, it’ll be pretty fast from there, 2-3days max and you’ll receive your transfer confirmation and will be able to take possession of your gun. You can call them or email them and see how far they are in the first restricted process.

1-800-731-4000 and when they ask you, use extension 7005 this will connect you directly with the qc cfo office.
