This thread will be used for the "new"-type questions, PAL/RPAL applications, references, CFSC/CFRSC requirements, storage/transport, or other general "new-to-me" firearms ownership questions.

In response to this thread, the community was quite positive for a thread to cover these subjects.

This may sound dumb but I would like to ask: can I put a handgun on hold by simply buying it from gunpost and wait until my rpal arrives before transferring it?

It's not that simple. If you initiate a normal sale/transfer they will eventually realize you aren't providing licence info and tell you to go away.

Some people/businesses may be willing to take a non-refundable deposit and sell the gun to you if you become a legal recipient in a set period of time. But that's a special case you'd have to ask about and I bet many will not be willing to do so.
