Hi Friends, newb question from BC resident here...sorry if this has been answered before...here goes..

I finally got my registration paperwork for my pistols. Super excited to take them to the range.

Should I be completing a ATT to take them to the range? I'm going there and back, not even stopping at Timmy Ho's for coffee.

Reasonably Direct is the wording of the law, is it reasonable to stop at a gas station, restaurant, or motel on a long journey?

You need an ATT to take them anywhere and the ATT needs to be for that type of destination. If your ATT only says it is good to take it to the range, that is the only place you can go with that ATT.

Correct me if I’m wrong here but, Any client who purchased a new restricted firearm after September 2015 will automatically have the attached conditions added to their firearms licence. These licence conditions authorize the transport of restricted and/or prohibited firearms registered to the licence holder within their province of residence by a route that, in all circumstances, is reasonably direct for the specific indicated purposes.

I just checked and I think that changed with C-71. To and from a range or to home after a purchase may still be a license condition but all the others may not be. Check your license conditions.

Individuals will now need to request an Authorization to Transport from their CFO to transport restricted and prohibited firearms to and from a:

business for repair or appraisal gun show port of entry or exit peace officer, firearms officer or CFO for verification, registration or disposal

Got it but go to go for range and from shop after purchase
