Weekly Newbies & FAQ Thread - Post your questions here for PAL/RPAL application, timelines, CFSC/CFSRC, references & requirements, or general new to firearms ownership -type questions

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe, that the number will remain the same. And you won't even be issued a new license card, until after you make your first R purchase. When you get your R license... you don't really have an R license. You have R privileges. After you purchase your first R, you will be issued a new license, and it will have a new revision number on it. You're likely still on your first revision .0001 and that will just bump up to .0002.

On the back, where you should see "Possession Non-Restricted" and Acquisition Non-Restricted" it will add Restricted under each of those.

Thanks for the info.

So most online stores I've used have had me input the license number without decimals - so once my R permission is reflected on the Individual Services site, I'm probably good to begin the search for in stock handguns?

The moment you see your rpal was issued on the site you can make R purchases. I made my first purchase within minutes of seeing the message update so I can confirm it’s good from there lol.
