Just called my LGS to have an update related to my transfer. They told me the CFO got more than 100k transfer requests which is the equivalent of 2 years worth of firearm sales..

We will have to be patient..

I’ve ordered three handguns since the announcement, including one today.

I expect at least six months before I start seeing them (Ontario).

If I’m lucky, I’ll receive the one I ordered today as a Christmas present to myself.

Holy molly ! Unfortunately my second purchase was from an .... Ontarian gun shop. Will try to move on and forget about it. This way I can only be pleasantly surprised I guess..

The transfer is processed by your province of residence. Doesn’t matter where you order it from.

If you live outside Ontario or Quebec, you’ll have it within a few days or weeks.

Man I’m just gonna ask you because I don’t wanna post my question anywhere and get flamed and called dumb but long and short of it is.

  1. I have RPAL

  2. I have range membership

  3. I bought restricted firearm online through GOTENDA, and I am a BC resident.

This entire time I’ve been under the impression that GOTENDA as a business will contact the CFO and handle all transfer related stuff, because I got my RPAL a few years ago and that’s how it seemed to work, but I only ever bought long guns. But on the Government of Canada website it seems to imply that even if I’m buying from a business I still need to contact the CFO myself and handle some of the transfer stuff. I’ve never had to contact the CFO for any gun purchase ever.

Is that the case? Have I been waiting for a transfer approval that is actually waiting for me to contact the CFO? GOTENDA themselves says the order is still processing, but I assumed that’s because the CFO is swamped. Did I fuck up here?

If you buy from a business you don't have to do anything. Tenda sends the request in, you'll get an email when it's approved

I can confirm Tenda send the transfert request. I bought from Tenda on may 30th and I just receive the reference number for the transfert yesterday and the message "We had submitted your transfer to Chief Firearm Office". They already charged on my credit card last week and now I got the CFO reference number so I'm pretty much clear in the process. I just need to wait propably more than usual. I'm from QC and I already bought restricted from them with no issue. Not sure about the delay and how they process multiple transfert requests but I will politely wait. My cowoker got contact by the CFO last week to confirm her transfert so I think in case they need to verify something directly with you they will call you. No doubt they're hard working to help the best they can in that situation.

Thanks for letting me know your timeline. Helps relieve some worries about getting the transfer in time

Still considering a CZ Shadow 2 in Urban Grey and a 1911 of some kind (not sure who makes a decent cheap one in 9mm).

A CZ Shadow 2 especially in urban grey is my personal favorite but I doubt you can find one now in QC. You can still find the black/blue or some the tactical sport but all of them took a price increase since. Check on Tenda they got some stuff here and there. On the other hand a 1911 in 45ACP is the way to go but in 9mm you can if you find a Norinco A-1911 its a good one. Its the cheapest but they oparate surprisingly well. I tried the trigger of a 1911 from Girsan and Taurus and they were atrocious. At this point any 1911 should do the job. If you live in poutineland check Sportheque Drummondville they still rotate some used restricted. Have you consider to check on a Beretta 92S surplus or a Girsan 92 clone ? You can still buy them and they are pretty cheap and reliable.

3 purchase in 2 weeks? Nice ! Hopefully you get yours quickly ! I'm lucky enough that on the 2 handgun I purchased, one is at my local gun range so I can still shoot it on premise but not take it with me just yet
