Can someone link me to the source for "Canadian gun owners commit crimes at half the rate of the general population?" I want it as a source for a letter to my MP.

If you want to see someone's eyes glass over, throw stats and links at them.

Recommend just saying something like this, keeping the message short, non-lecturey and friendly:

Because of the Canadian firearms licensing system, the Canadian firearms community is heavily vetted for both mental health and criminal background. In fact, as a demographic, licensed firearms owners have a crime rate much lower than the average population. Because legal issues can mean losing one's license, there's a strong incentive among licensed owners to maintain good standing in the community.

So many pro-firearms folks corner people and yell stats at them, it's a tired old tactic that doesn't help the cause.
