It's interesting that your personal experience, both with drugs and your personal feelings about your own firearms, shapes your views on what is an individual vs. societal issue.

It's a good starting point to understanding why others may not like firearms...perhaps they have experiences or have heard things that hit home to them. No one from the community really does it, but understanding other people's thought processes is essential to make any progress.
