This argument makes no sense. "Rural and sporting" gun use isn't under threat. Semi-auto centerfires are being targeted right now, precisely because they don't fit the sporting optics that you think are going to save us.

Maybe. The AWB (including the evergreen/feature ban that's apparently coming as an amendment to this bill) is arguably just as damaging.

The Mini-14 is a far better ambassador rifle than the AR15 will ever be.

Right now at this moment, I agree. Not that I think it makes much of a difference.

The average Canadian sees a black rifle and they immediately want it banned

I understand that, and we need to solve that problem. Hence the idea that we need to sell these rifles as useful, not just sports equipment.
