So just to throw my experience out there, I bought a rifle today from a major retailer, and the license verification system completely bugged out and told the salesman that my PAL didn't match any on file. They had to call the CFP and manually verify my license, so the whole transaction took like three times longer than it should have.
Also, now that the PAL legally needs to be verified with every transfer, retail and private, what even is the point of having the plastic cards anymore? Why can't the CFP just look you up with your name and a PIN or something? If the card itself is never enough, I don't know why we need to have them anymore.
