My biggest fear is reading "All semi autos will be banned" .... I love my SKS to much to let it go...

Lol, oh my god you dickhead, I thought you were quoting the article.

The coming legislation does have the same title as a previously failed bill from the last Parliament, which died on the order paper after Trudeau called the 2021 election.

So that pretty much confirms it to be a re-issue of C-21.

What I can say is that we've heard from survivors of gun violence, we've seen a spate of gun violence… On the other hand, we also know that we have we have legitimate sport shooters, for example… There is hunting, and we don't want to do anything that that trenches upon those legitimate interests as well,"

I don't know what "trenching" on legitimate issues means, but I'm pretty sure confiscating people's guns counts as infringing on them.

Sport shooting coincidentally not mentioned. Not surprised.

Lametti does mention "sport shooters" but we all know what he means by that: Skeet and trap with a break action shotgun

He specifically did in that quote.

They don’t give a single shit about the couple thousand people who actually care about duck hunting.

Okay that's good news at least then!

Don't get your hopes up yet. The government can issue a new OIC concurrently with the new bill. For example, if the bill proposes to ban a type of firearm and the government wants to prohibit their sales and transfers immediately, they can do so with a new OIC.

especially considering we might be going into an election should the NDP get pissed off and/or find some balls

2

u/[deleted] May 28 '22

The ndp might get pissed off, but they have no balls to cause an election

That was before they had a coalition with the ndp

fair point

They probably care about them more than any other gun owners. Hunting is as Canadian as maple pie. It's a lot easier for them to justify a ban on 3-Gun to their base.
