Here's another article blaming the increase of gun crime on mostly smuggled guns. Not that it will do anything to change the LPC's mind about banning everything.

“(Recently) it’s been handguns — stolen handguns,” he said.

Still brings up this one up. I recall an ATIP request when a Calgary cop said something similar and they had no data in their systems to back it up.

Yeah what the fuck? How do we not have good national data on this isn’t that the WHOLE POINT of maintaining the restricted registry?

If my S&W shows up in a crime do they not run the serial #? Either I’ve been robbed in which case it’s already reported, or I’m a criminal orchestrating straw purchases and an 8 year old could build an excel sheet against the handgun registry that figured in about two - three “scratched serial #” guns used in crime who in Canada “owns” could possibly own that set of restricteds and pay me a visit?

This is something a student analyst could easily do at Public Safety but clearly they're not interested in the public, nor safety.
