So what makes a “valmet” a valmet? What’s the difference vs some random ak receiver, besides some markings?

Aside from it being the only AK variant named as non-restricted, since it was given to First Nations for hunting, Valmets are considered some of the highest quality AKs, period.

Made in Finland. Depending on model some will have AK style safety, others have cross bolt style I think. There's also some difference in front sights IIRC.
