I have my PAL/RPAL courses coming up in a few weeks. Was given the handbook, all 300+ pages of it. How much of it should I know going into it?

They cover the entire thing in the course so reading ahead isn't really advantageous unless you struggle with that sort of thing. Doing a quick read of ACTS and PROVE wouldn't hurt though.

Not really necessary. I knew next to nothing about firearms. Although that still hasn't changed much lol.

You're going to go through it all during the course so you don't need to study too hard. I would just see what the first day is like for you then go from there.

Oh I see. It's just a weekend for me (saturday and sunday) so I guess I should get some reading done before then.

None of it. It wouldn't hurt to spend maybe an hour just flipping through and familiarizing yourself but I never had the book until I showed up in the class and got 100% in the PAL course and 98% in the RPAL one. The point of the course is literally to go through that book.

ACTS, PROVE, reading chamber data from a gun, reading and identifying cartridges, and the reason 20ga shotgun shells are yellow and no other sizes are yellow.
