I can't say I'm too surprised at this turn of events, sadly. Next thing you know, they'll be going after Valmets, Kriss Vectors and others.

Fortunately the Valmets are untouchable given that the government themselves handed them out by the truckload to Inuit in the 80s. If they go after those it wouldn't be hard to disparage them for assaulting First Nations' ways of life.

You do understand that there is no minimal historical period required for something or an activity to have cultural significance and heritage value, right? If the feds gave the Inuit Valmets and they quickly became part of their way of life, it is not a difficult argument to make that the rifles hold significance to that community. I'm not saying it's a rock solid argument, but in Canadian politics, all one has to do suggest that something could be construed as being even the slightest affront to First Nations way of life and it immediately becomes unthinkable.

But the RCMP doesn't have the authority to do this kind of thing. It is the Government, specifically the Department of Public Safety.

So yes, the Government does want them gone, and in the case of the Swiss Arms classic, they got their wish.

They haven't been "fucking with them", there was one order that arrived by mistake that were auto's, so imports on them were curtailed until they are sure that no more auto's will slip through (the real Canadian Order got lost someplace when it was shipped to some other country by mistake.) Then some idiot retailer (Canadaammo if I recall) started totally unsubstantiated rumours that they will NEVER come back in order to move their own supply of rifles faster. (A rumour that has been repeatedly challenged by other retailers on the CGN forum) And now we are stuck with the "consensus" that the CZ858 is being fucked by the RCMP.
