There was also a marlin SBL at the Range tonight I put them side-by-side. The only difference I could find was the sling swivel mounts and it uses flathead instead of torque bits for the top rail, other than that It looks to be a one-to-one copy of the Marlin in my opinion
Itβs wild the price on it. You have to wonder about durability. On the other hand I think Marlin is charging a huge premium for the name and the fact that the design just looks great.
Even for the premium they still suffer from the Marlin "bop", horribly crooked rear sights and a razor sharp kings gate. Would be hilarious if the Kodiak didn't have those same issues.

I like the look maybe more than the Marlin SBL. It looks like a straight full on copy with nicer wood.
