Count your blessings to be able to shoot basically anytime you want without all the BS elsewhere

man its amazing that you can shoot in your back yard, I have to drive 1.5hr from Vancover to my range in Chilliwack just to be able to shoot 200 meters, as for the spot where we do actual long range shooting we have to drive 5 hours away to the location you see in the picture!

Guess I am pretty lucky when you put it that way. Once the crops come off I can reach out to the back of the field that’s perpendicular to my 100yd shooting table and reach out to 450yds

absolutely, having your own privet spot is something most of us dream of!

Suggestion:

Take the Ferry to the Sunshine Coast, go up Mount Elphinstone, you would probably spend less time driving, granted 45 mins on the ferry but maybe only an hour of actual driving and you could have the joy of shooting up in the mountains but with the Salish sea in the distance.

They have a sighting in days for public but generally members only. It's closer than chilliwack too, i get there in about an hour from North Van.

What's the range to the other side of the valley? 800m or so?

Where?!

The PCDHFC only has 200ish yards.

I'd love to try stretching the legs out on my 308 and 223/556 bolt action.

If it's not to far away then maybe even build out a 6.5CM.

I’d love to have even one of those instead of driving an hour.

The saddest thing is our inability to share spots like this without the fear of them being destroyed by dipshits. I've got a legal spot like this fairly local to the Fraser valley that I'd LOVE to share with everyone here but the moment you do all the cloud hunters and litterbugs show up and ruin it for everyone

100% agree with you! I shared a spot before and now it turned in to a camp ground for the wrong crowd, there's people camping there all the time even if I go on a week day!

what is a cloud hunter?

I really think it depends on where you are located and how far out you can shoot often. I shoot a 308 usually if im shooting within 900m. Beyond 900m I plan on building a 300PRC but until I find a place I can reliably get to that has a good spot to beyond that range I dont find the cost worth it.

308 is my favourite!

I shoot both 308 and 338LM, I have no experience with 300PRC but ive been hearing lots of good things about it

Just cant beat the costs of 308 over magnum calibers, i can shoot all day with the 308 and not want to cry about the costs haha

100% agree with you!

I even made a video about it on my YouTube channel

2

u/DougMacRay617 6h ago

u/charlietango-001 16h ago

its a 5 hours drive a way from Vancouver just to get to a spot like this!

1

u/TheSmellyDragon 3h ago

Just curious, which direction are you driving 5 hours? East? I’d love to know the general area

1

u/NeoNova9 15h ago

Do you set up a perimeter around your target warning others of the target?

there's a big hill behind it as ui can see plus this area is so remote that you can only access it in the summer,

2

u/NeoNova9 15h ago

Oh that seems like a great time! Hope you all had fun . Stay safe out there .
