Gun and gear reviews Makasi Mk15 questions
I've seen lots of posts from the NS booth at TACCOM with the the special order FDE Makasi and the regular black one. I heard the FDE one was coming with an exclusive 15 inch handguard, but clearly the black one on display has that too. Did anyone have the opportunity to view or ask any questions regarding it?
I'm wondering if with all the reported QC issues, are the handguards being swapped out with ones that don't have the issues and that's the delay to them hitting retailers?
Any insight would be appreciated.

Wondering the exact same.. commenting to come back to this post... id personally like my makasi t Pre order to come with a 15 inch handgaurd! AND ive heard nothing about pre order timeline after the last mention of it going out "in sept" and we are nearly halfway through the month. If we end up waiting longer for QC that will definitely be a welcomed delay in my mind. It could be that they are making those changes now to avoid the logistical nightmare of having hundreds of canadians trying to pester them after the first batch shows up all fucked up and they have a shiny fixed version on display lol

That's what I'm hoping for too. But I wish someone could throw us a bone and say what's going on. Some retailers were saying they were supposed to have them a early August, now all I hear are crickets

I’ve heard it’ll be November now. It’s all speculation at this point, for myself I’m just expecting it as a Christmas present, any sooner is great

I guess that's OK - more time to save money. I wonder what the delay is... manufacturing, QC, import paperwork?

Primarily QC, I think they were hoping to have all the rifles sent out before people noticed how crap they were turning out, like the Gen one 180s. The reviews came out quickly for the first batch and they were not good

Court decision is also November, hopefully they aren’t going waiting on the decision before importing.

That is when the Supreme Court hearing starts, not ends. On average they can take 6 months to over a year to hear every side and make a decision.
Good news for us is it doesn’t seem there will be any OICs until then, as per Carney post Montreal. “We have to use the legal routes available”

313 operator was at the booth. I asked him on instagram if all the pre orders are coming with a 15 inch handguard and he said yes. QC and longer handguard is what is causing the delay.

Well if that true, that definitely good news

I heard similar from the rep that was there. I actually asked him directly about the QC items cause I saw the post about the early batch with the handguard screw going into the barrel nut. He said that they talked with the manufacturer and that the new ones have the longer hand guard and have a redesign around the screws to fix the issues seen in early models. Believe it was north Silvia who I was talking to.

Yeah NS had a large booth at TACCOM. I thought Gravel Agency was handling the imports? So I wonder what version I preordered from Tenda…

I saw the Makasi at the North Sylvia booth at TACCOM; the rep there said all of NS Makasi's will have the longer handguard. However he also did say there were multiple distributors of the NR version in Canada so he's not sure which stores will be getting which version of the Makasi?
So the early pre-orders, are they coming from Gravel Agency, will they have the longer handguard?

I would think it only makes sense for them to ship all Canadian guns with 15 inch hand guards

Talking with a guy that was there (taccom) as well as north Silva and brigade.
They changed the barrel nut, as well as new handgaurds that are longer for NR version. The new handgaurd also has been made to address the charging handle issue.
North Silva told me they expect to see them in October.
Brigade said the first 50 shipped a couple days ago.
A sponsored shooter I talked to said that RDSC is getting the first batch.

they only recently updated the pre-order to state that the initial batch has all been spoken for, I wonder how many rifles that was.
Not a lot of people I know who pre-ordered went through RDSC, I did.

You will be recieving 12" if you dont request a change... the 15" cost me 42 dollars more

Thanks for the heads up, just switched to FDE 15” and yeah it did cost me the same but I think more than worth at this point I would have been pissed if I got the shorter one tbh

I spoke with the guy at NS at taccom overseeing the distribution. He said 2-3 weeks for first batch to be distributed to retailers, but would be 500 ish each, ie spread around. Something like 3-4k pre ordered. I asked about someone who did not have a pre-order, what kind of timeline they were looking at - he said best estimate to see on a retail shelf for sale: January. Also longer handguards look much better in person. FDE looks really good in person. Unfortunately both hand guards have pic rail not flush with upper with display models: still the gap/mis alignment seen earlier.

Anybody knows if these will come out in 308 at some point? I already own a few 223 and am now looking for another one, would much rather have some sweet 308. Would also make sense with its FAL DNA.

It would indeed be a true FAL/AR hybrid with a 308 version. Also 6.5 Creedmore would be doable. Would the Calibre change require a new FRT? Probably, but hopefully it would pass. Hopefully they use a good barrel, so the firearm can use the new high pressure 6.5 ammo without issue.

Unfortunately, I think we're both dreaming... nobody ever releases a platform in 308/semi auto. Closest we got was the Raven 762 before it got banned in 2025 :(

i saw a video from taccom of a 308 to be released, think it was one of citadel, akdas alcor or canuck manufacturer.

Yeah, I just wish it was from... how could I say this? More reputable companies 😂

An interesting side note is that the night vision optic could see through the wall! Impressive!

Well shit, pre-ordered. Thoughts on a 1913 adapter to run a fixed AR buffer tube and Magpul stock on the back end?

I have the mentioned items, just waiting for mk15 to arrive.

I've reached out to brigade and they told me that they couldn't discuss any details. Said that the distributors would be able to answer delivery date questions and i have been ghosted by everyone I've reached out to. Not looking great atm.
