Buy recommendations Ruger SR-22 bad idea?

Went to go buy beef jerky, next door there’s a firearm store so I figured what the heck. Saw this Ruger SR-22 with 4 mags for 595 moose dollars on the used rack. Being a Ruger fan boy and having exactly 595 to spend on jerky, I bought it instead.

Figured Ruger could do me no harm. Heck I’d suck on old Bill Rugers toes if I could. But I opened up the Google and found quite a bit of bad reviews. Was the SR-22 really that bad? The weight I don’t mind.

I have a 50th anniversary SR-22 which I bought new and yeah it may be a bit heavier then other tactical 22’s but the build quality in my opinion far surpasses any other. I can’t even fathom how many rnds I’ve put through it and it just keeps plinking away. I say good purchase!!

Rugers are heavy cause they're fucking awesome!

they don’t make authentic out of the factory sr 22 anymore so honestly not the worst investments. They are a lot heavier than your standard birch or polymer stock ruger 10/22 though. It’s not a huge deal but some people may see it as clunkier to use

Price is good. Pain in the ass to dissemble for cleaning. 4 small screws holding the top rail tend to strip easily.

My advice: buy it if you really want the tacticool look. Otherwise just buy a regular 10-22 (newer ones often come with the upgraded BX trigger already.

I bought a second-hand SR-22 many years ago. It was the second or third firearm I purchased. It's been rock solid. My kids have put thousands of rounds through it.

Yes it's heavier than a typical 10/22 but it's pretty solid vs some of the plastic stocks you'd put on a 10/22 to get a similar tacti-cool style.

Probably better than buying a $200 10/22 and throwing $1800 in parts on it to make it look like that.

My main complaint is the trigger, but the platform is nice for customizing and you could always get an aftermarket trigger if you really wanted to

Jerky store next to firearm store. Reliable Gun? Still my favourite store to shop.

Had one, loved it, and all my kids learned to shoot with it. Wish I’d never sold it.

I am the guy they call to fix the broken down 22lr semi's. The 10/22 action is the most robust and best value for your dollar. Buckets of fun, reliable and almost infinitely customizable. They are a good, proven firearm.

I had one few years ago. Like any Ruger 10-22, don't expect match grade accuracy... but they are still a lot of fun and do the job well for smal game. The only beef I had was a lot of disassembly required of the chassis in order to clean the action

One of the discipline directors at my gun range said that the SR-22 is the most accurate semi-auto rifle in 22LR that he ever shot.
