Depends on whether this shotgun is based on an already existing, Non-Restricted/Restricted shotgun receiver. If it's a different receiver/new to the Canadian market and it was manufactured after December 15th, 2023, it would be prohib because the design magazine capacity exceed 5 shells for the type that it was designed for.

The 5 rounds rule is unenforceable. it's not even part of the current FRT submission system.

Not sure how that's "unenforceable". It's literally in Canadian Law (C-21) and the CFP has to abide by when it comes to what is and is not prohibited firearms. Really stupid law don't get me wrong, but "design capacity" was compelled by law to be considered a relevant factor in a firearms classification.

The rifle takes magazines. Some of those magazines hold only 5 rounds. The fact that there are other magazines that hold more doesn't matter. It's the rifle that is getting the FRT not the magazines.

What you want the law to be is not what the law actually is, unfortunately.
Only way forward is a SCC decision in our favour AND a new federal government.

It literally does matter... On their website, they advertise they come standard with a 10 shell magazine as a config option. That means it's design capacity literally exceeds 5 shells and thus, unless there was a FRT before C-21, means this would be prohib.

I think semi auto mag fed shotguns were deemed too heterosexual and banned

By name only, same as the rifles. The classification guidelines are still the same, which mean that this should clear NR if it meets all the usual requirements.
Now, will it be first in line for another OiC if they decide to do that again? Almost certainly. Caveat emptor.

That’s what puts me off these fun ideas (like the Spas12 clone). I’d love to buy one, but the ways things are going it will be $1000+ down the drain.

Don't be afraid of the Spas12 clone. It's just any other semi auto tube fed with a silly party trick.

Brother, it’s hard to take that statement seriously when you can look at what happened to the actual SPAS 12.

Fair. Surprised it wasn't called a variant off the rip.

Wait till people buy it, then ban it. Eventually all the people wanting tacticool stuff won’t have enough money to buy more.

They’re actually so gay, they wrapped back around to looking straight, but they are in fact still very gay.
You literally have to insert the mag into the mag well so the rounds can chamber and “fire”. cough

Gun: Exists.
Sketchy Turkish Shotgun Company: We can make a 12g replica of that!

The Turkish companies rival the Khyber Pass gun makers with their ingenuity.

The mags are proprietary (But compatible with other Turkish mags, I think), but it looks like they make a 10 round variant, which.. Since this thing seems to be a new design, I think automatically makes it prohibited?
Correct me if I'm wrong though.

A 10 round mag would not make the gun prohib. But the mag would be. 10 rounds are permitted for pistols only.
Or the 10round mag could be pinned to 5. They haven't banned the rivet yet

I was thinking of the legislation that automatically prohibits any center-fired gun designed after 2023, if it's been designed to accept a detachable magazine of more than five rounds.
1
u/567432Gains 10d ago
key word, designed to accept.
If there isn’t any mention of it accepting anything other than proprietary 5 round magazines than it should be good to get through initially. Now, that certainly doesn’t mean it’s safe from future OIC bans.

Cries in left-handed.

u/escv_69420 9d ago
jealous because your left-handedness precludes you from feeling like buying this POS would be an OK idea.

Agreed. I tried the turkshit route once. Never again. I was just imagining getting smacked in the teeth with high brass when someone inevitably brings one of these to the range and asks if I want to try it.
