Application / Regulation advice Need some advice from experienced Canadian gun owners

Hey all ! I recently inherited 3 guns. Absolutely no judgement to any legal gun owners out there! It’s just not for me and I would love any advice on what my legal obligations are before I give them away. I know I need to have them registered first before I do anything else. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I understand registration is for the gun itself, whereas license is for the person. Therefore I don’t need a license since I don’t intend on using them….is this correct? Once I register, do I need to do sometime else? For example, do I need to “de-activate” them ? FYI, they are from the early 1900s. They are not considered antiques according to Canadian law. Thanks for the advice fellow Canadians !

It would be helpful to know what type of guns they are, they could fall into three categories. Non restricted (no need to register them), restricted (registered) and prohibited. If they are non restricted all you need to do is verify the license of the individual you are giving them to. Post pics of them so we know what we’re dealing with.

Are they handguns? I'm asking because currently handguns can't be transferred to individuals without rare exceptions, so if they are, and you are trying to sell them, you'll probably have to find a business willing to buy them or try to sell them in the US via an exporter/importer.

(also if they are handguns, you generally would not be able to keep them even if you wanted).
