Went to the range with my buddy to try out my fully cleaned SKS and was having a blast with it 10/10.

He wanted to get his rifle ready to get a bear starting sept 1st. So he invites me to take the first shot from his savage 110 in 300wsm. Tells me its a bit strong like the 308win Tikka i have. So i be prepared to shoot it.

HOLY FUCK B'Y !!

Like what on God's green earth is this tf!? Buddy died laughing and i was astonished by the power this cartridge has.

Guys who shoot this, dont knock on my door please. šŸ˜­

Brought it with me as a keepsake and as a goal to master it one day.

Devils advocate hereā€¦most .338 LAPUA rifles donā€™t hit your shoulder anywhere near as hard as the light hunting sporterweight rifles in .300 WSM.

Absolutely the 338 and 50 BMG are fun to shoot, not at all painful in my experience. BUT, theyā€™re heeeeavy rifles with big ass muzzle brakes. Heck the old 30-06 Remington pump I got my first deer with as a teenager 20 years ago beat the living piss out of a person compared to my .300 RUMā€¦.

Yeah definitely, if they were light they would be impossible to shoot. Found 338 heavier than 50BMG but that 50BMG out weighed the 338 by 5-6 lbs and didnā€™t have a break.

One of my single shot 12ga hit about the same with 3.5ā€ goose loads or breneke slugs. Shot it a few times with those loads and it is more than ridiculous. Shot basically one of each to see how it would be, and nope not shooting those out of it again. Had my shoulder bruised for a week and a half afterwards and couldnā€™t shoot anything else after that afternoon.

I am not buying ahotguns after seeing what 12ga slugs do to a man. So id not brave it yet

Just buy a 410 or 20ga. Or just shoot mini shells for a 12ga. I can shoot the mini shells one handed out of my 12ā€ Churchill 12ga. It wonā€™t cycle them but I know the Mossberg 590s do.
