Misc FakeOG on the Turkey shooter

Post image

It's just a range toy, but lots of fun. Haven't fired it with the cheapo ACOG on it yet, but looking forward to it.

I put a thin piece of adhesive foam on my handguard where it meets the receiver after seeing that video review of this. In the review the handguard was busted to hell from the guy cranking it hard after only 200 rounds.

I may do that. I think I'm nearly at 200 rounds, but I just run it hard enough to cycle well. Good tip though.

I just got mine on Amazon. It was an easy fix for $10

What's your round count?

Very low I've only taken it out once to sight in my red dot. Maybe 20.

Careful with this, some guy pulled this out at the range. He dropped it and it broke in half like a twig

Yeah, I intend to baby it. I'm pretty easy on my guns, especially those with optics.

Did you see that happen? God, I'd be wincing. I don't even pick my guns up by grabbing the scope.

Yeah i felt really bad for the guy, he was new gun owner first time out with his recent purchase. As he was taking it out of the case it slipped and fell. Honestly it was super sad seeing him pick it up in two pieces just looking down at it in his hands coming to terms with what just happened.

i almost cried reading that. first time out as a new gun owner and that shit happens. I hope warranty is fast for him and he gets a good gun next.

The gun broke? Holy sh!t.

How has it been? I was thinking of picking one up if the reviews were reasonable.

The gun or the optic? Gun runs great. Simple action so no ftf, fte with Federal or PMC. The gun has its shortcomings. Top one is that the mag can be over inserted when the action is open. I had a friend nitpick the shit out of it, but for 900 clams you can only expect so much. Fun range toy. Would I trust it in a home invasion? Maybe. Only maybe. 😄

Ah fuck for 900$ I would expect better! Hell my Ruger PC Carbine (RIP) ran unbelievable well and only for 700$

What does one cost today? When will you be taking yours out to shoot next?

Why are you so mean 🤣

LOL fair enough. Since they got banned, I think they are going for around 600 USD, so around 950cdn(?)

I was yanking your chain. Sorry if I came across like an A hole. Yeah, these things aren't cheap. The manufacturers know that our options are limited and they're not giving anything away.

All is well! Haha I have tons of Glock mags so I've been looking at a different Carbine option. Even the bolt action version of this peeked my interest.

I'm new to 9mm so I don't know what I missed out on. I'm having fun with this in the mix. I have a small private range and host a few shoots every year for family. Lots of .22 plinking paper and steel, but we work our way up to .357. 38SPL and 9mm are fun stops along the way. I love sharing my guns.

That sounds like a pretty preem set up! Yea, prior to the OIC BS, I had loads of time with the Kriss Vector, Skorpion Evo, Sig MPX and Beretta CX4 Storm. Those all made my PC Carbine look quaint in comparison. Still have a pistol and revolver in 9mm though.

Nice!! Hang in there and let's hope for the best in the court case.

Is the bolt action $900 too?

1

u/FroBro243 27d ago

I THINK it was less, but don't quote me on that. I saw a post on CGN, I think it was 699.99$

Henry Homesteader 👍 won't regret it, and only a couple hundred more than this one

1

u/FroBro243 27d ago

My biggest concern with the Homesteader is the reliability. I have read/watched some pretty mixed reviews. There is also the fear of it getting the ol' ban hammer, but not something I haven't been through before.

Hit 3k rounds the other night and still no failures to eject, extract or light strikes. Only issue i had is the little rear sight set screw falling out, which was warrantied with one email.

Couldnt be happier with it so far.

Love that Henry. I really thought that it would be banned cuz it's semi-auto. I enjoy manual actions, so this is ok. I wish they made one that looks more like the Homesteader though.

Is this the 9mm pump? What's the price and quality? (Other thank Turkish..)

2

u/Massive_Expression_2 27d ago

About $900. For the cost, the value is good. Parts fit and mags feed very well if not over inserted when the action is open. How will it be at 5000 rounds? I expect that it'll need some parts. 😁
Some guys dump on everything Turkish. Well, I have lots of expensive hobbies so some of my guns are cheap, but my two Turkish guns are both great value, in my opinion. I've only had one gun that was a lemon. Made in Italy. Go figure.
