Matches the WWII era badge I picked up a few years ago. May have been one of their marksmanship rifles

Maybe it was used and personalized by a Cadet on a Air Cadet shooting team. You could run personal rifles of standard pattern on the shooting teams back in the day.

I've also seen Cadet shooting prize rifles that had similar badges in the stock but those are usually much more pimped out.

yep, its an early royal Canadian Air Cadet cap badge, cut down and set into the stock
