News / Politics / Activism Assuming the coming Supreme Court challenge rules in the governments favour, are we expecting OIC #4?

Worst case scenario, the Supreme Court ruling rules in favour of the government, deciding all previous bans were just.

What do we expect? Another OIC wrapping up the remaining semi-autos by model?

New legislation announced banning firearms by newly defined features?

Carney basically said last shooting they need to go through the “legal process” for banning, ie no more OICs until the SSC decides if it’s legit.

If it is legit, the next OIC will come soon after.

If it’s not legit, I expect they would begin the 18 month legislation like the handguns did.

We are now in a strange limbo state where only RCMP FRT swaps are possible fast bans - see my poor N4S that was lost in a boating accident.

So assuming a future OIC is in the works. Are you thinking it will be limited to semi-auto stanag pattern rifles, or wider reaching?

The end goal is all firearms. The writing is on the walls with that slow crawl.

My personal guess is they'll name ban the remaining semi automatics or they'll full send and ban anything that takes a magazine. Or they'll just say anything that can take x amount is banned.

Would wipe a lot off the board (shotguns, levers, bolts etc).

It'd be an OIC if they win, if they lose they'll just ram a bill through the house.

They can try but the problems still remain the same. The buyback is a mess, police forces don’t want to deal with it so enforcement is basically non existent. It’s pretty much dead in the water and with the ever increasing number of PAL holders the idea of mass criminalization is out of the question. Pretty much the only W they are getting from this is a end of the sales and a slow death of the culture. Which for the government that’s fine but for the anti gun groups like Poly that upsets them. If it was up to them they would want every single person who did even the most basic of civil non compliance to have the book thrown at them to ‘send a message.’ The government however logistically is incapable of doing that.
