First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

Why do more Canadians want to own guns

Well, why not? Sounds to me like a reasonable thing. No different than if you are passionate about other things in life.

I love it when people act confused and deliberately dense when trying to understand why someone would like or want to collect firearms.

Like dude, people collect all kinds of things like lighters, cards, cars, bikes, bottles, stamps, shoes, gloves, video games, movies, you name it. Some people collect things that make even less sense.

There are fucking napkin collectors out there dude. People getting hot and horny for postage stamps is somehow understandable but all of a sudden a rifle or a pistol is just an alien concept for you? Beautiful walnut and polished steel and still it’s an inconceivable idea?

Since when did anyone get street-cred for being dense?

Its very telling how a person was raised / what their values are.

Why do other people care about what I have and what I do with it? Because they have nothing better to do with their time and good boy virtue signalling is hot.

People get all pressed when they're asked why they need a car or a pool or a dog.

Its an emotional trap question imo.

Since when did anyone get street-cred for being dense?

Our current government is built on that.

Create problems, solve them years later and act ignorant about the fact that theyre the ones who did that.

For some reason there’s a lot of people that can’t think about guns in a logical or common sense kinda way. They react purely on emotion. Basically the mind of a teenager
