Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

The liberal mass migration policies that saw millions of people in a very short time that overwhelmed our infrastructure and in particular the medical system that saw my dad not get the timely surgery he needed and killed him will always have the liberals as #1 hate in my heart.

I'd say Trudeau was ambivalent about guns or even slightly pro but once you join the LPC, you have to toe the line. Don't forget that one of the architects of the LPC was Allan Rock who said that he doesn't want to see a single gun in private hands in this country.

Trudeau knew nothing about firearms until he was given his talking points by the LPC. He went from "we won't do this" to "look what happened in the states!!".

Trudeau was always out for himself and his party, Canadians didn't matter to him. They rushed out and oic so he could get a photo op.

Your point only shows the usual liberal hypocrisy at work.

A year ago the carbon tax was worth dying for to them, now it's totally okay.

So all that says is that he decided his party and photo ops are more valuable than his own beliefs. Whatever sounds good for a sound byte / presser.

And again, Trudeau knew nothing about the actual firearms laws in this country.

It just shows how hypocritical it all is.

He proudly used the assault style bs at press conferences.

I don't know why you'd give him the free pass when he's a core reason why firearms ownership is dying.

He ran the country into the ground, he destroyed so many livelihoods and our grand children's children will still feel the aftershocks of his weak government.

all I said is he knew about guns and might have been ambivalent about them but had to toe the party line which, is of course, hypocritical.

By saying he was ambivalent and that it was the party line that supposedly changed his behavior. That's shifting the blame, we like to call that a free pass.

The party line is a free out when he was at the head of the ship, the leader helps dictate the party line.

Its got the same energy as the usual "Oh yeah he wasn't so bad, he was just following orders".

Please, let's be honest with each other here and not try to paint a pig and call it something else.

Its revisionist to try paint him as such when he is directly responsible for the pickle we're in.

Trudeau was never a friend to firearms. Just like a lot of people on this sub, they may own or have operated firearms but they're certainly not helping.

Trudeau being too slimy to tell the truth and just doing whatever the LPC says isn’t exactly a great character defense.

Say what you want about Provost, but at least she’s honest about what she wants.
