Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

Well the "master negotiator" got mad last minute and now we have 50% tariffs on tens of billions of dollars of goods... Yippie can't wait to pay 50% more on gun stuff when Carney retaliates... ELBOWS UP!!!

Yep. Don't get me wrong, the deal sounded like it was going to be trash, but Carney had A YEAR to negotiate a fair deal, yet he just ran the clock! No surprise Canada could only get a shit deal when you basically do nothing until weeks before the deadline, which I'll add, the PM basically said ""don't care", I'm going to Italy, byeee!" until opinion polls on him started to tank, forcing him to cancel his trip, which he should have done that in the first place!

I'm sure they'll have the proper spin on this by Monday. Somehow people will say this is a good thing or that Carney somehow came out the winner.

I especially like the dollar for dollar thing they're pitching. People don't quite understand how bad that's going to be.

We're about to see a lot of industries get nuked.

I hope people are bracing for austerity 2: this time it's not technical.

As a reminder to all the good folks reading this, now's a good time to stock up on ammo, primers and all the usual stuff. Its about to spike in price once things settle.

Very few do. Other than the obvious direct damage on our economy, the US is going to retaliate even further for this. Our economy is going to be beyond fucked in a year.

I had family in the lumber industry (who had to pivot because of the softwood debacle).

Its gonna be a multi year economic shockwave.

People are gonna be really pressed like, a year from now.

The better question is if they'll have the ability to correlate it all.

I hate Carney and the liberals too but Trump's deals are just you surrender completely and then he tacks more humiliation on last minute. He's done this repeatedly. There was never going to be a deal no matter who's prime minister as Canada is just the whipping boy for the US to energize the Trump base after all his other failures.

More like eternal. The Liberals will NEVER LOSE A SINGLE ELECTION EVER AGAIN. They have basically become like Japan's LDP or Singapore's PAP. I predict come 2029 they win over 80 percent of seats.

but he's up against Trump... so it's like talking to a damn toddler
