Feets / Collection / My build Henry Mares Leg 44mag SBR

Just added the longer stock to my Henry mares leg. Went with function over fashion on this one. So much easier to shoot. Doesn’t add too much weight. I can still shoot it one handed.

12" is simply the objectively correct length for intermediate cartridges (magnum handgun/intermediate rifle, .30 caliber and over), especially when using sights that do not depend on a long radius for precision.

mares leg type configurations work better for pumps since they dont require upward and downword force needed to run the action. which you can do much easier with it braced against the shoulder.

I was always curious what it was like to shoot this 1 handed, probably feels a bit awkward & heavier I can imagine?

Obviously easier with the shorter stock but with the longer stock it brings some weight behind your hand so it counter balances a bit. Ya I couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn one handed but I had to try haha

Man this is a great alternative to a shotgun for bear defence.. what did it run you in total?

$1900. The mares leg is $1600. $300 for the longer stock.

Thats not too bad actually.. and definitely more of a dual-use survival gun if needed. Im gonna go see if the ol LCS has any in stock

I own a Rev arms mares leg in 410. Its a fun little gun but not super usable as a "pistol." Id like to make an sbr out of it as id think it would be a perfect little grouse and pheasant gun. As its a Turkish gun based off a winchester 92 platform, would winchester stocks (or stocks made to fit that platform, ex. Boyds) fit, even with minor adjustment and filing? Or are the dimensions too far off to waste my time? Anyone who might know, chime in!
