Misc Why is the Derya TM22 so famous?

I recently purchased a TM22 Pro, and was wondering what makes it so popular? I’ve seen it in the subreddit multiple times, what’s your favourite part about the firearm?

It is essentially the replacement to the GSG-16, which was a very popular cheap “cool” looking semi auto .22 with some modding capabilities, that scratched the itch for people who wanted to modify guns but didn’t want to spend a ton of money doing so.

When the GSGs got banned, the people who wanted a cool tactical looking .22 plinker needed a new gun to use.

Not all GSGs got banned. Just got a GSG 1911 Mauser 22LR that cost twice as much in the end as this Turkish toy. GSG is German made. All metal including the magazines.

I guess I was being a bit broad. When I said that I MAINLY meant the GSG-16 and the other similar models that were just a meh .22 semi that looked cool.

I’m assuming you have a ATC or something like that to get the 1911? I kinda wanted one when handguns were legal to transfer since the price point of a .45 1911 was way too high for freshly 18 year old me lol

Also still kicking myself for not being able to get my RPAL in time to buy a Tokarev TT-33 for $300.

Handguns are legal to transfer with an Olympic discipline 22LR exemption letter but you'll have to source new ones from the USA as Canadian retailers don't import new ones anymore. You can get pretty much any handgun in the 22LR version including the 1911. You wouldn't have been able to afford the .45 ammo anyway for regular range shooting/training. Imagine the cost of a few thousand rounds a year.
