For reference, I used to run a PEQ15 on a 16.5" Bren 2 and they ran very similarly weight-wise as the PEQ15 was an extra lb on the Bren.
I might take the faux suppressor off after some range test.
Edit: It is about 10.5lb as it stands. I do have a Surefire Scout light on the other side. Without the faux suppressor it is about 9.7lb. I rather suffer additional weight to not see the pencil barrel.
The gun is made from steel not aluminum. People say its a polymer gun, no its not it has polymer Overtop of steel. The core of the receiver is still heavy steel
Idk why people are bitching about weight, it’s a valid consideration. Especially if your end goal is to build the one rifle + all the kit required. You gotta be fit, but the old adage is that ounces = pounds = pain. Saving weight where you can is important, mountain hunters know this well.

I don't understand people saying this gun is ugly. Ok, the 18.5" version with no fake can is weird looking but this looks good imo. Plus you get to shoot the Kharod from stalker
What's with people complaining about a lb difference in weight lol.......like it's gonna make a fuckin difference. If anything a heavier gun means less recoil and more stability.
IMO given the limited options the Carmel seems to be the best overall 223/556 semi auto rifle on the Canadian gun market atm. Even though there's a few other options, none of them seem to hold up well.
No agenda, but the gun is objectively heavy right out of the box.
If the 16.5" you have is 10lb once you put your toys on it, people considering the 18" might benefit from knowing the weight as part of making an informed purchase.
16.5" CZ Bren 2 weights 7.3 lb out of box and is considered light.
16.5" IWI Carmel weighs 8.125lb out of box and somehow is "end of the world" heavy? Give me a break. Your agenda is very clear.
My build is for my need, skill sets and most importantly my taste. This weight does not impede my active drill speed.
If I just slap on a red dot and a light, this is easily under 9lb for being a range toy.
Who said end of the world heavy? Now you're being silly. All I asked is for you to give us a number rather than your written opinion as that will be more informative for others who may not share your opinion on what is or isn't heavy.

I had a reverse TNA faux suppressor with side ports initially, but it exposes the writing on the side. Right now I have a Pike Arms reverse faux suppressor on it.
