It looks like the Scar-Ls SPED brother.

u/Panjaab1 Aug 04 '26

Idk why I ever thought this photo wasn’t real or exaggerated.

u/Big-Guitar-1979 Aug 04 '26

It’s REAL, lol

1

u/adrenalineJ92 Aug 04 '26

Sad isn’t it?

15

u/Big-Guitar-1979 Aug 04 '26

But if the extended hand guard is available, then it wouldn’t be too bad. This HK has 20”, it doesn’t look that bad

8

u/Lumindan Aug 04 '26

God what a beautiful beast.

7

u/Big-Guitar-1979 Aug 04 '26

That’s the best DMR lol

6

u/Panjaab1 Aug 04 '26

Definitely is! God willing we will have these back one day. I did want to ask though, what the functional difference is between a DMR and a battle rifle.

Excluding the 5rnd magazine limit, is there something about this rifle that makes it a DMR over a battle rifle?

2

u/threequartersbaked Aug 05 '26

I don't have a particularly educated answer for you, but my sense is that a DMR is typically focused on providing accurate fire at longer ranges, like between a sniper and a more standard-issue rifle, whereas a battle rifle is more about having something in a typically larger caliber but not necessarily focused on reaching as far as a DMR. So I think generally a DMR would have a more powerful optic and longer barrel than a battle rifle, but I also think a lot of these terms don't have super clear definitions.

2

u/EliteDuck Aug 05 '26

Thicker barrel, as well. So that it heats up/loses accuracy slower.

2

u/threequartersbaked Aug 05 '26

Ah, yeah, that makes sense.

Potato- Potato.

2

u/Panjaab1 Aug 05 '26

Thank you!

There's basically zero aftermarket options at present. I think I found one, and it was shorter not longer.

Pinocchio be damned... COME TO PAPA!!!

The 18.5" barrel on the Tavor/X95 was decent because of the bullpup design. It wasn't strangely long, even with the flash hider. It worked out really well.

But this thing, and I really really reallllllly want to like it, but if that is a picture of what is going to land here, I'm not sure I want it. It reminds me of the NR CZ 858's we had a decade ago where the barrel was stupidly long for the design of these rifles. Not shitting on IWI or CZ, they're just dealing with the laws of the land. But, if this is the reality, then I'm not sure if want the product.

Just need to stick a barrel condom on it (fake suppressor)

5

u/CAFirearmSociety Aug 04 '26

Personally I’ve also thought the 18 inch barrels looked pretty good in the bullpups from the before times.

5

u/TryInitial2042 Aug 04 '26

It is the short handguard that makes it look weird.

47

u/TheScranHouse Aug 04 '26

It looks so weird😭

7

u/BilboBaggSkin Aug 04 '26

It’s so nice that our government cares so much that we get good bullet velocity.

6

u/Even-Somewhere-9554 Aug 04 '26

It looks alright. Cannot wait for mine

6

u/TescoValueSoup Aug 04 '26

The gun is more than 8lb with nothing on it, its going to be an unwieldy pig with optic and toys on there.

I'd take one over the Makasi, but I don't think I want either at this stage.

5

u/Acc4Wtf Aug 04 '26

I'm with you, unfortunately. I've got an AD500A on the way, hoping that performs well enough to quench my thirst.

6

u/LuckNo2351 Aug 04 '26

tbh not bad, reminds me nr converted bren 2, probably put on a third party handguard or reverse fake can would makes it looks better.

2

u/GopherRebellion Aug 05 '26

Problem. The aftermarket for the Carmel is non existent.

1

u/hockeyfanatic777 12d ago

Yeah if you can point out the 3rd party hand guards for the rest of us that would be great… but I don’t see any around

14

u/dgod40 Aug 04 '26

Do people not remember the B&T APC223 with the 18.8 Barrel. it looked just like this and people drooled over it. Is it long? yes. Is it still awesome? Yes.

4

u/moonpie_888 Aug 04 '26

Also the 2" muzzle break doesn't help

5

u/Einyrki Aug 04 '26

That gun got “Let me do it for you” type energy

4

u/Brymes13 Aug 04 '26

saw both NR Makasi and this in person the other day, Makasi was the better looking firearm by like 10,000 miles. The Carmel hand guard looked taller in person while the Makasi hand guard shorter in person. My gunsmith didn't seem to think the problems reported with the Makasi were very hard to work on so the choice is easy for me.

3

u/ijlas Aug 04 '26

Out of curiosity, could you share what works your gunsmith feels like would be required?

3

u/Brymes13 Aug 04 '26

I just showed him the review post from the other day, they also had the nr and we’re going over it while I was there. Sorry just a collector that’s about as much as I know.

5

u/DarkenemyxXx Aug 04 '26

Makasi owners will be laughing through the window at the range. Carmel owners will be laughing through the window at the gunsmith shop.

2

u/CrowOld5626 Aug 05 '26

You got it backwards it’s the Makasi that will be at the gunsmith lol did u see the reviews we got on the Makasi lol

2

u/DarkenemyxXx Aug 05 '26

I know. Read my comment again.

That pencil barrel is skinny asf which screams, "I am low quality and will be drastically off target once hot." I hope I am wrong but my wallet and my wife hope I am right I.e. sensible/fiscally responsible/fit for once!

Edit: added all of the additional disappointments after 'sensible.'

11

u/IcySkyDream Aug 04 '26

Thin barrels are also lighter and cool off faster.

For such a long and front heavy rifle, I think a thin barrel is ideal.

5

u/ExplorerEnjoyer Aug 04 '26

At least it works unlike the other option

6

u/ijlas Aug 04 '26

Yea I was on the makasi boat. After some recent reviews, I am seriously looking at this long boy now

1

u/Relevant_Diver_3228 Aug 04 '26

I might get one of each after the rush for them dies down and my wallet recovers a bit

2

u/stonecolddeezausted Aug 04 '26

I love the MR1 but its Canadian NR version was horrible. The 20” pencil barrel would heat up and vibrate and accuracy suffered.

3

u/kinghalifax902 Aug 04 '26

How does it run

1

u/Lumindan Aug 04 '26

IWI has a pretty good track record so I'd assume pretty good.

3

u/ShootyMcGun Aug 04 '26

Holy crap that needs a Handguard 2x longer hahaha looks hilarious

3

u/moonpie_888 Aug 04 '26

When did these get in????

4

u/ijlas Aug 04 '26

Still in the US I think. Posted by IWI folks on Instagram.

3

u/jwubadubdub Aug 04 '26

A rifle the loooong way

3

u/Vsatbtw Aug 05 '26

Better then another straight pull bolt action

2

u/Icy6521 Aug 04 '26

Looks like this post has been removed from instagram?

2

u/Prestigious-Step1264 Aug 04 '26

Looks a Roman soldier, good job !

2

u/KnownCobbler9026 Aug 04 '26

It’s better than imagined, slightly

2

u/Prestigious_Ad280 Aug 05 '26

Looks excessively bulky and awkward

Why? Outside of ugly aesthetics we get better bullet velocity which is nice tbh

1

u/CanadianOcto Aug 05 '26

Reliable is reliable in my eyes, but if the aesthetics bother you too much I understand.

2

u/Slowisfast_2021 Aug 05 '26

Oh man, it’s ugly af. I have a down payment on the Makasi which I was considering to cancel in favor of the Carmel. Not anymore. I don’t want this ugly mf either.

5

u/adrenalineJ92 Aug 04 '26

No thanks! I’m sticking with the Makasi.

17

u/Flashy_Inspector115 Aug 04 '26

There has been terrible reviews here

4

u/vancouverpanda Aug 04 '26

Rdsc is getting the first batch apparently

4

u/ijlas Aug 04 '26

Uxbridge arms on their website says Aug 15th

2

u/Equivalent-Shoe-1652 Aug 04 '26

How did you hear that?

5

u/vancouverpanda Aug 04 '26

Rdsc told me a couple days ago

1

u/shamone94 Aug 05 '26

I touched base with the 2 weeks ago and they told me mid to late summer

1

u/adrenalineJ92 Aug 05 '26

Really?

1

u/shamone94 Aug 05 '26

Yup, I did my preorder on April 16th; they told me mid to late summer at the time, still telling me the same thing

8

u/DJJ0SHWA Aug 04 '26

Even after all the recent poor reviews eh?

2

u/ConnectAd5999 Aug 04 '26

Nice rifle I wonder how hard parts will be to get and how long till it’s ban. Regardless still better than 90% of the knockoffs we have in Canada.

2

u/Dill_Pickle_Tears Aug 04 '26

Not even a reverse faux can could save this. Not terrible but makes me want to go for the restricted version of this for rifle competitions and range shooting and then NR with the Makasi (provided they bump up their QC) for hunting and outdoor plinking.

1

u/CatchADeffaz Aug 04 '26

What the fuck is this

1

u/Enough_Challenge7264 Aug 05 '26

Lol. It's ridiculous.

1

u/Unknownuser010203 Aug 06 '26

Why does this look so much observed than the mk15? Is it the hand guard?

2

u/GopherRebellion Aug 08 '26

Thin barrel next to a beluga whale of a handguard.

1

u/Unknownuser010203 Aug 08 '26

Ah that would do it.

1

u/Mysterious_Sleep7443 29d ago

Anyone heading any news on the ETA ?

0

u/pinkystinkypinky Aug 04 '26

Honestly this looks comical, I’d rather have the makasi and work through any potential issues with the manufacturer than whatever this monstrosity is.

5

u/16gaugeguy16 Aug 04 '26

Function > looks

I'd rather have a reliable guns that looks different than a good looking gun with QC issues.

u/starw24-ps4 Aug 04 '26

Meat missile

0

u/Big-Guitar-1979 Aug 04 '26

DMR?

3

u/vancouverpanda Aug 04 '26

Pencil barrel so it wouldn't really work
