Recurring Canadaguns Politics and Debate Thread

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, questions, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread. This thread recurs every 14 days.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun subreddit, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things.

This thread is not for general politics, there are plenty other subs that are meant for that. Off-topic threads may be removed, especially if they are leading to personal attacks, flame wars, etc.

To prevent the main sub being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about gun politics will be sent here.

We understand that politics is a touchy subject, and at times things can get heated. A reminder of the subreddit rules, when commenting, where subreddit users are expected to abide.

Keep this Canadian gun politics related and polite. Off-topic stuff, flame wars, negative generalizations against groups, personal attacks and gate-keeping will be removed. Please flag any comments to bring to the attention of mods otherwise exercise your upvoting and downvoting ability.

Why does anyone need privacy?

Too many wrongdoers hide behind the universal veil that privacy provides.

Those who demonstrate an actual need for privacy should be the only people who obtain it.

It is for the greater good.

You don’t need anything.

“But that's a bad faith argument okay. Privacy can't get up and kill you okay. Privacy was not designed to kill people." This is unironically the argument you will hear as anti gunners miss the point. The point being if the government and society is comfortable with controlling one thing that people don't 'need' then they will start to become really comfortable with controlling other aspects of our day to day life. Now some people could argue "What about the charter?" What about it? The government can just ram through a bill that has section 33 through it and for 5 years they can suppress our freedom of concise and religion, freedom of expression, freedom of peaceful assembly and freedom of association. They can also suppress our right to life, liberty and security of the person. Search and seizure, Arbitrary dentition. Pretty much all our really important rights and freedoms can be held at the whim of the government. But hey that's no problem. It's not like the literal CCLA has called it dangerous to us all. You know the organization that has been around since 1964 and actively is a watchdog about protecting our liberates? Yea no must just be some bleeding hearts.
